Award Won- Fanime 2008- Honorable Mention Craftsmanship
For Fanime 2008 my original masquerade plans fell through. I had never entered my black lady
in a contest before and chose to do a walk-on with my boyfriend as Prince Diamond.
Unfortunately the announcer used our old title when announcing us, so people were a bit confused,
as we were supposed to be announced as our character names, oh well!
Character – Series- Black Lady (wicked lady) – Sailor Moon R
Debut- Anime Expo 2007
Personal thoughts- I absolutely adore the design black lady has, and I had always wanted to make it. I also liked the good chibi moon gone bad story part. To this date it is one of my most favorite costumes I’ve made., the whole look, and attitude is very unique and cool!
Construction details- The velvet dress is fully lined. It took almost a year to find the right fabric for the dress, and when i found the perfect fabric it was pricey for my budget, but I still bought it anyways! For the organza top, I had sewn rolled hems for all the seams by hand since it’s very delicate fabric and warped easily and caused holes if the weave was pulled to taught. The organaza top has black velvet cuffs, and collar sewn on, and has gems glued to it. A friend constructed the wig for me in time for the convention.
